Why the Germans Were Convinced Patton Had Made a Fatal Mistake

At long range, the German Panther could kill a Sherman before the American crew had a realistic chance to answer.

That is why Arracourt matters.

The lesson wasn’t that the Sherman was secretly better than the Panther.

The United States did not need every individual weapon to be the best weapon in the world.
