While this news is disappointing for the fans, it has not been the first time the manga has left the fans high and dry. Eiichiro Oda‘s series’ chapter 1171 is already delayed by a week because of the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine; this is just rubbing salt in the wounds.

It’s a sad day for the One Piece fans as another break of their beloved manga series was leaked by a X user. The upcoming Chapter 1171 is already delayed by a week because of the Weekly Shonen Jump magazine’s break week, and now this. Chapter 1171 was supposed to be released yesterday, on January 11, 2026, but is now being released on January 18, 2026.
While the ongoing hiatus of the manga chapter was not because of Oda, but the magazine itself, this one surely is. As @pewpiece mentioned in the comments of the original post, this one is Oda’s break with no confirmed reasons why he is taking the break:

What to Expect From One Piece Chapter 1172?
With how Chapter 1170 ended and Chapter 1171 still awaiting to be released, it is really tough to assume what’s going to happen next in the story, especially with Oda’s unpredictable writing. Nevertheless, as per the narrative’s flow, the long ongoing flashback will likely conclude in Chapter 1171, and Chapter 1172 will be the battle in the present.
Additionally, while Loki might reveal more secrets about the Void Century, the giants might ally with Luffy after recognizing him as the Sun God figure from their myths. If it is really what might happen, we might have a big and intriguing battle at our hands when Oda returns with the manga.
